"Wonderful Experience"

We visited Bawang Merah twice on our holiday last week, and found on both occasions the experience to be most enjoyable.

The food was very fresh and so delicious with just the right amount of spice. The cost was very reasonable, and when choosing food & drinks the price is very clearly stated on the menu, so that you know in advance what you will pay. The service was amazing, the staff were so very attentive and made us feel so very special, and chatted to us as if we were guests in their home. The fact that they will pick you up and return you to your hotel after your meal is a real bonus, it takes the hassle out of getting a reliable taxi driver in Bali.

For entertainment there were two young Balinese dancers who were so graceful, and a true delight to watch.

The setting was so romantic for those on honeymoon, or for those who are not, very quiet and relaxing, without being too crowded. The sunsets are beautiful. Also whilst there, enquire about their Beauty Salon and Spa, we highly recommend it. They will also pick you up, and deliver you back to your hotel for this too.

On the last night of our holiday in Bali we had dinner here, and as part of their service, on completion of our meal they drove us to the airport for our departure. We highly recommend Bawang Merah.

"Relax And Enjoy"

We have been there just after the opening and if you are not sure, that the driver has brought you to Bawang Merah restaurant, go to the beach, close your eyes and follow the smell of onions, chili and a perfect grilled chicken-leg. And when you hear the voices of friendly and engaged staff ,you know that you are at the right place! Relax and enjoy.  Don't forget to taste the best soto ayam ever.....

"Totally Different"

We have been twice to Bawang Merah Restaurant at Jimbaran Bay, also visited two other cafes there but this place is totally different. These guys are honest when weighing the seafood, they don’t cheat on the scale!

The food is fresh and delicious. The view over the bay is unique because the restaurant is located at the very northern part of the beach. We found it difficult to come with the taxi because the driver tried to take us to other places, so it’s better to call Bawang Merah Restaurant and they will provide free transportation.

"Amazing Location, Delicious Food"

We found this restaurant through a friend's recommendation and spent a wonderful evening there. We had dinner together with 15 friends to celebrate my wife's birthday. Ordered 5 seafood maharani and 10 seafood basket, we all found the seafood very fresh and of excellent taste.

Restaurant is new and very clean, cozy, really enjoyed to dine on the beach and to watch the beautiful sunset. A great experience, we'll definitely come back with family and friends.

"New and Great"

After several experiences eating out in Jimbaran over the years and having been disappointed ... This place is a great find. It is a new restaurant only opening 3 months ago, so still pretty quiet on the customer front. We arrived early as we had small children and we had the beach to ourselves. the staff were friendly and even minded our babies whilst we ate! Great service!

The spring rolls were super fresh and we had seafood baskets as well as an Indonesian and Balinese basket and all the food was terrific. Fresh and well cooked. The cleanliness of the bathrooms also a welcome sight (as previous places in Jimbaran had terrible toilet facilities) The barong dancers provided great entertainment too. . . Get the word out so this place can pick up its business... It's worth it.

"Perfect Setting For A Seafood Dinner"

This restaurant was recommended to me by friends and it didn't disappoint. We went as a group of 6. The boys had seafood baskets with lobster and were licking their fingers!! We stayed here for 3 hours and didn't want to leave. Not only was the food amazing but the view of the sunset was spectacular. Definitely value for money. The staff are lovely & very attentive. The Balinese dancers made the night even more enjoyable. They even had us dancing with them. If you want a great feed, sunset dinner, entertaining night then Bawang Merah in Jimbaran is the place to go!

Often the term "Beachfront restaurant" is exaggerated slightly but here they have a number of tables and chairs actually on the beach. It's amazing to feel the sand between your toes when sipping wine and eating some of the best food I have ever tasted.

Jay and I both ordered a set meal. The only difference between his and mine is that his fish is steamed. I like mine grilled. It all tasted very fresh and it all costs $30 per person. It's served with a salad of steamed beans with a coconut dressing. The favourite sauce is the honey butter sauce - sumptuous. I also like the belachan which is spicy. I'm not done yet about the goodness of this place. There was entertainment - proper little Balinese girls dancing. If you catch her eye, she might just pull you out to dance! haha

"Excellent Beachside Experience"

Wonderful outdoor seating, really close to the sea. Cold drinks and well-prepared cocktails made for a good start, shortly after came the food, the grilled red snapper was incredible, the prawns delicious, the clams very good. The side sauces were really good as well.

Due to its unique location, on the northern end of the bay, we had a scenic view over whole Jimbaran bay, beautiful wooden fishing boats in front of us, very nice! We've eaten at other seafood places in Jimbaran bay but this one was the the most friendly, cleanest and the best.

"Away From The Crowds"

I am a regular at their restaurant in Nusa Dua. Few months ago they opened this restaurant at Jimbaran Bay so I gave it a try and immediately felt into love with the location. Kelan beach is a newly developed part of Jimbaran Bay and therefore unknown by the crowd and not yet flooded by tourist busses. When there for sunset dinner we shared the restaurant's beach with just two other tables, very tranquil ambience and kind of exclusive.

The restaurant is overviewing the bay and lots of colourful fishing boats rock in front. We had their popular seafood basket (350.000 rupiah) consisting of grill fish, prawn, squid, crab and Balinese vegetables and sambals, everything well-presented and very delicious. Complete menu and many pictures can be found on their beautiful website. It's a good idea to use their free transportation service because the location is a bit tricky to find.

"Hidden Gem"

Probably one of the best seafood restaurants at Jimbaran bay. We tried their seafood basket, superb! Also loved the location, a really hidden gem, tricky to find, so better use their free pick-up service.

"Perfect Dining Experience"

I was in Bali last week and found this wonderful restaurant. I was driven to Bawang Merah which led me through the streets of Jimbaran Bay so I was able to see the surrounds and get the beach feel before I arrived. Greeted by the warmth of accommodating staff I was overwhelmed by the beautiful endless clean beach on which the restaurant is situated.

I started with fresh cold pineapple juice, seafood spring rolls main meal fresh grilled whole fish, marinated (out of this world) prawns, steamed rice and coconut bean veggies... Every dish just melted in your mouth cooked to sheer perfection.... at night you can watch the sunset, eat from a table on soft sand and breathe in the fresh ocean air... If you go to Bali you have to try this new restaurant Free Pick Up from hotel its worth going just to Bali for! Enjoy

"Best Dining Experience"

We came over this restaurant by recommendation of a friend and we really enjoyed our sunset dinner at this lovely place. The food there is amazing, we tried the seafood basket with lobster and it was so fresh and delicious. We had a table on the beach but you can also sit on a roofed terrace. Impressive views and cozy atmosphere, friendly service and attentive staff. That was the best dining experience during our entire holiday.

"Genuine Place"

Away from other Jimbaran hustle as I have read some reviews about ploys with bills and taxis at other restaurants. Bawang Merah is run by decent people with a great feel for customer service. The view and the food and the wonderfully attentive staff make it as good as a 5 star in terms of enjoyment. Wonderful location, seafood basket a must have for seafood lovers. Timely pick-up and drop-off. Will be back. Cost us 600 rp dinner + drinks for 2.
